Down at the roots

Every other take in this series stages the scene under the canopy, fruit within reach overhead. This one drops the camera down to where the serpent actually is — coiled at the base of the trunk, half in shadow, the moonlight doing more work than any other light source in the series. It's the moodiest of the seven, and the closest to a painting you'd actually find hanging in a museum's classical wing rather than a fantasy-art gallery.
